    No vacation for you!
  • 03
I worked as an assistant manager at a corporate gas station and they would use me as acting manger for other stores if theirs was sick or on vacation. My

manager was leaving, and I was used to cover the store when she left, knowing I was most likely finally getting promoted to manager at my own store and so
  • 05
happy, I had worked so hard to move up in the 4 years I was there and I knew how to do EVERYTHING and had great walk- the-store ratings. After two weeks

of hearing nothing, they throw this guy in my store and make him manager. He knows nothing and we find out - he's boinking one of the HR ladies at corporate

months go by of this and we get our quarterly rating - and it's 20 points below my stores usual average. He blamed it 100% on me and told me that if it continues he's going to fire me -
  • 09
which I laughed at. Corporate hires and fires managers, even assistants and I told him he has no authority to do so and take it up with them because my store never scored so low until he

showed up. He decided he didn't like my truthful outburst and told me he needed to leave early and get ready for his weekend in Cape Cod, and that I needed to do the huge order for the store
  • 11
before I left today (it was a Friday) in a vain attempt to punish me. I smiled and told him sure. I did the order. I did it completely and perfectly. Then I went into the office, typed up a

resignation letter and left it on the desk. When he stopped in Saturday morning expecting an already made deposit to take to the bank and saw my letter instead he called me and ask if I
  • 13
really wasn't coming in this weekend, if I was serious about quitting and not giving 2 weeks. I laughed and hung up. He had to cancel his weekend trip and instead spend it working and putting away the order he made me do Friday

HMS_Slartibartfast • 2d ago Once again someone quitting because of the manager, not the job! I do hope you've made sure Corporate knows why you quit!

Embarrassed_Bet946 OP.2d ago I had already talked to them about him and got absolutely no where...like I said, he was banging someone in HR

Ichgebibble . 2d ago Soks that you had to leave a job you actually liked. I hope you found something else that made you happy.
  • 17
Embarrassed_Bet946 OP 2d ago Well it was a gas station job so no huge loss there, it did help set me up for a future in administrative work which I absolutely rock at so...everything happens for a reason!

FreakshowMode 2d ago I hope you landed a better job where your work ethic is appreciated. I also hope he fell flat and they kicked his a out the door shortly afterwards.

Embarrassed Bet946 OP • 2d ago I did! And as far as I know he didn't last more than 6 more months Imao so they lost a 4 year long well trained and showed up everyday employee for a dude that knew nothing and was there less than a year. F em.

    • AprilB916 2d ago I have 100% respect for people that realize when it's over and simply walk away! You had no other recourse, especially with the HR chick having her legs getting tangled up in the ceiling fan! Awesome revenge :)

Embarrassed_Bet946 OP 2d ago Thanks! What made me happy is that I did my job flawlessly till the very end, just for the sake of the store. I had been there so long, I never wanted to see it go to

Bont_Tarentaal • 2d ago I can also assume that the ratings for his shop fell like a leaded balloon...
  • 23
Embarrassed Bet946 OP 2d ago . Of course, he had no one to teach him when I left and scored another grade in the 60s 70s range. My store used to average mid to high 80s, and it's a huge deal because your bonus is based off that grade quarterly. What he scored didn't even qualify him for a bonus, you needed 80 or higher.

Angelus-MortiS91 • 1d ago 50-65% people quit a job because of leadership. They will go into the same type of work elsewhere, so it's obviously not the job they hate
